the diaries of Franz Kafka

"This tremendous world I have inside of me. How to free myself, and this world, without tearing myself to pieces…
And rather tear myself to a thousand pieces than be buried with this world within me."

Francis Farewell Starlite- i'm writing him down as a hero

Francis Farewell Starlite is officially one of my heroes.
a) because I just found out his full name, what a dude, and it's straight from his birth certificate!
b) he dances with his heart, and it couldn't be more inspiring and beautiful to watch.
c) his first video had me amazed, and his new video has backed up his amazingness!
d) it's a single take live performance, edited with light!!!

Francis Farwell Starlite, I would bow if I saw you, I would.

Animal Affinity

My fish is unwell, I just spent an hour trying to hand feed him, very very carefully. I just want him to know that I am there with him, I think he does, I hope he does. I wish animals and humans could talk. I suppose we just have to trust each other.

These photos are taken by Robin Shwartz. They are of her daughter Andrea, and their life with animals. They bring me comfort, in my fish sadness.
Here is a lovely excerpt from Robins website about her exhibition Animal Affinity:
"Each of us has a strong fantasy world. Amelia and I play out our eccentricities in worlds where she and animals not only co-exist, but also interact. Animals are not props in my photographs and they are not photo-shopped in. The world that my daughter and I explore is one where the line between human and animal overlaps or is blurred."

David Lynch- The Interview Project

How wonderful is this. I love the way David Lynch describes the project--- 'it's meeting people'.
It's amazing how interesting we find so much in the world, when humans, and our stories are really something that is too often overlooked... I want to go on the road and meet people.

An Awesome Book update

I posted about this book last year, and quite a few of my friends bought the book. It's just so very cool and perfect what Dallas Clayton is doing. Helping kids dream, yes please.

Here is Dallas Clayton's personal website, and here is the Awesome World Foundation site, where you can buy a book.

THIS IS SAND

It's a sand drawing. An interactive simple website that lets you create your own visual piece. You just click to release the sand, and press c to change the color.... quite therapeutic, and beautiful.

Above are some examples of what others have created, found in the gallery

Big Sur- one day...

One of the prettiest girls I know sent me this collage. She and Big Sur seem to be attracted to each other, like attracts like... beauty shines.
I am now to read a book that the prettiest girl told me about. She tempted me with a quote:
"at dawn its majesty is almost painful to behold.  That same prehistoric look. The look of always.  Nature smiling at herself in the mirror of eternity"
It's soul searching time in my land. What better way to indulge in life then with a book with wondrous light.

Book~ by Henry Miller. Called Big Sur and Oranges of Hieronymus Bosch.

Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity

"We don't grow into creativity, we grow out of it..."
I strongly agree with everything this very entertaining Sir Ken Robinson says, I think we all do, or should. I know my life would be different if I was given more of a chance to be who I wanted to be as a child- through education. It's beyond time for a change- imagine if dancing was a compulsory subject from the age of a wee one! I promise, the world would be more joyful.
